Worn only for the 1936 season, the New York Black Yankees sported these simple, but classic wool ballcaps when they played home games at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. Originally founded as the Harlem Black Bombers by financier James “Soldier Boy” Semler and dancer Bill “Bojangles” Robinson, they became the New York Black Yankees in 1933 and played in the NNL until 1948. NY greats include Satchel Paige, Fats Jenkins, Goose Curry, Flash Miller, and Willie Wells.
This home run from Ebbets Field is hand-stitched in small batches from vintage baseball flannel and made to last. Detailed with the original felt NY logo from the 1936 season and finished with an adjustable genuine leather strap for a comfortable fit.
This piece from Ebbets Field is a part of our collection celebrating the history of the Negro League and its impact over the last 101 years. All proceeds from this collection will go to the NAACP'S Legal Defense & Education Fund & The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.
