Build a Better Bar

Build a better bar setup with some new glassware & the right tools for the job.

A few bottles of liquor stashed away in the cupboard does not a home bar make. When hosting guests, you should be able to whip up at least one great cocktail on a moment’s notice — and show a little personal style while doing it.

There’s enough cheap barware and mismatched pint glasses floating around out there today that we thought it was time to put together our list of essentials for building a solid home bar set up. After all, you want visitors to your home to think you enjoy the finer things in life.

Jack Pack Cocktail Kit

Skip generic cocktail ingredients and upgrade your bar with these handmade tonic and bitters from Jack Rudy. Named after the founders’ great-grandfather, a daredevil WWII airplane mechanic from Louisville that loved to entertain, all Jack Rudy cocktail ingredients are made in small batches in Charleston, SC.

The Jack Rose is an applejack-based cocktail dating back to the 1920’s and 1930’s. A favorite of John Steinbeck, it also gets a nod by narrator Jack Barnes in Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises.
This drink is based on applejack, and it's rose pink. Play on words. It's smooth and sweetish and deeply deceptive.
Sipping it, you can't tell it contains liquor of any kind, let alone applejack.
2 oz applejack
1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
1/2 oz grenadine
In a cocktail shaker combine applejack, lime and grenadine with cracked ice and shake well.
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Makes one drink

Our Jack Rudy Cocktail Kit includes a bottle of small batch grenadine that would work perfectly in this recipe.
