Handmade in Aspen, Colorado, this Ketoh from Smith Bros. is a beautiful rendition of a traditional Native American design. The sterling silver plate is hand-hammered, stamped & set with a large marbled turquoise stone, then fashioned to the bridle leather cuff with antique rivets & hand-stitched for a comfortable fit. Ketohs are decorative cuffs that originated in Native American history as bow guards to protect a archers wrist from the whiplash of the bowstring. In the late 1800s, these utilitarian cuffs were adapted into ornate bracelets worn for decoration, just as this piece.
